Managing Your Carpooling Business

Setting up a carpooling business is a good idea for you to be able to earn additional income. This is because, aside from school buses, car pools are the most common mode of transport for students who do not have a license to drive yet and who have busy parents who cannot transport them to school.

First of all, include only neighbourhood families in your car pool. This way, your driver does not have to go too far in order to pick up the children. Second, work out a schedule for two or three families and make sure you stick to it. Next, give advance notice if there are any changes in your plans so that your clients would not be inconvenienced. Furthermore, always make sure that you have a backup vehicle that can do the work if the primary automobile happens to need repairs.

Making firm rules for the road is also crucial in successfully managing a carpooling business. For example, the children would need to wear seatbelts all the time that they are inside the vehicle; no one is allowed to ride in the front seat unless he or she is twelve years old and above; and everyone needs to be on time during pickup before and after school hours so that no one would run the risk of being late.

Finally, make sure that the vehicles you use in your car pooling business are properly maintained. Take these rides to a mechanic for regular checkups and repair any problems that crop up immediately. Ensuring the safety of the children in your care, after all, should be your most important priority.
